Why Doesn’t my Pedometer Read ALL the MILES?

Why Doesn’t my Pedometer Read ALL the MILES?

We get this Q all the time…and we LOVE it, because it continues to prove to us how AWESOME walkers really are!  You have probably done it – you thought, “Hey, I’ll pop in my 3 Mile walking DVD and wear my pedometer for fun!”  Then you’re disappointed, because you see at the end of your hard, sweaty miles that you only walked 2.1 miles!

Let us clear the air!!

Pedometers are great for reading motion – forward and back, side steps, and even walking in place!  But when it comes to kicks and knee-lifts, the pedometer just simply can’t pick up on them.  We love adding kicks and knee-lifts to our walking workouts, because it increases your range of motion, and thus uses more muscle.  Our walks are truly MULTI-MUSCLE workouts!

But have no fear…

Our walks are EXPERTLY paced by Leslie herself.  If you take the music from any of our DVDs and walk to the pace on a treadmill or outdoors, you will have walked the number of miles indicated by the title of the disk.  The distance is all in the speed of the music.  As long as you keep those feet moving to the beat, no matter what step you are doing, you are DEFINITELY earning the right to say that you walked the FULL miles!

We love your questions – keep them coming!!
