Friday! Walk Strong!

Friday! Walk Strong!

The iVillage assignment is “strong” today …. the pace is 4.5 miles per hour (that’s about 140 beats per minute in our Walk at Home Miles)

iVillage – Rev Up Your Weight Loss Walk Challenge is a few days past the 1/2 way mark …. still lots of walking ahead as we close in on the end date of Mon. Feb. 14 – please JUMP IN anytime … even a week of good solid planning gives you a BIG push forward in your fitness goals for Spring and beyond!

Here is a sweetie from the iVillage boards …

Leslie,

Last week I walked 42 miles with your tapes,  I have been walking with your tapes since the first of the year and have lost 3 pounds. I did not take a waist measurement do you lose fat around ,then pounds. Today I had to push myself to do 3 mile I want to quit. This week I’m trying walk slim 3 fast miles.

Hi sweetie (iVillage member nickname)!  Oh I so understand the days when you feel like you have made great efforts to exercise …. and the “rewards” seem slow in coming!  I have studied the effects of fitness walking for 25 years now and I can tell you I am absolutely convinced that it is the one healthy choice that has more “rewards” than any other choice we make!  And there is much medical science and research to support my own studies.

So with that said, I am happy to hear that you have walked off 3 lbs. … that is a good start since we are only into the 3rd week of January. (You started at the first of the year?  That’s awesome!).  Now I have to say that 42 “Walk at Home” miles in only a week is 6 Miles per day …. that’s a lot of miles no matter how they are done.  Try this for the next 2 weeks.

Mon/Wed/Fri – Do 5 Miles of the Walk at Home workouts (stretching after your walks is the ideal time for flexibility)

Tues/Thurs – Do strength training for the entire body – 1 or 2 exercises each for legs, arms, chest, back, core – do 2 sets of 12 repetitions

On the weekends – keep active with activity (or exercise) that is different from your workouts … ride a bike, go dancing, cleaning or a home project, … all are good choices.

And finally …. how is your food intake?  It may be that you are taking in just a few extra calories that are preventing you from dropping more weight.  Here’s what I love about my partnership with iVillage …. they are one of the BEST sources on the web for food and nutrition advice …. explore iVillage.com for great info to be sure your calorie level is adjusted to continue to lose weight.

What I know for sure?  Your walking workouts WORK to make life better!  We don’t have to over-do exercise … we can find the right balance between workouts and food to get to our weight goals and our health goals …. keep trying my friend … I promise you will have a breakthrough for more weight loss … and you’ll be healthier with every step!

Keep me updated … stay in the challenge with us … I know the next few weeks have some healthy rewards for us all!

Big hug to you!

Leslie
